Okay, I know half my friends do not get BBC America. Tough. I do, so I got to watch the first US broadcast of Primeval last Saturday.

The premise is that someone or something has opened a door (i.e. sparkly CGI effect) from the Forest of Dean in western England to the Permian era, and things are going in and coming out.

The coming out is the interesting part because you get the nifty CGI scenes with Gorgonopsids hunting people through shopping malls and our team of scientific do-gooders staring at a Scutosaurus trying to figure out what to do with it. The going in is the plot hook because one of the main character's wife disappeared in the forest several years ago.

You'll enjoy this better if you've ever watched "Prehistoric Park" or any of the "Walking with..." series, because apparently the anomaly can open onto any period.

As a kid raised on "Wild Kingdom" I think I'm going to enjoy this.
