The move wasn't quite as smooth as I'd hoped, so a few of the links (mainly the hard-coded ones) might not work exactly as they should and may move you over to qerth.com, which means you'll have to log in again.

If you run into any links with this problem, post them here and I'll try to get them changed.

Also, if anything doesn't work, go to www.qerth.com and everything should be fine. (Let me know about those problems, too).

I'll try to get everything running smoothly ASAP.

There was a reply here, and a reply from me to that reply, but those disappeared.

Long story short:
The store went crazy as a result of the URL changes (because I did something wrong).

Ended up having to reinstall the store. The version I just put up is new, so I haven't tested everything yet (though it all seems to work so far).

Over the last couple of days, I've had to rebuild the database from backups several times, and a few things (2 PDF orders and some forum posts that I know of) disappeared. If you two who ordered need to access your files again for some reason (I think you're allowed 10 day or 5 downloads, whichever comes first), let me know and we'll re-create the orders, but without the paying part.

At this point, I'm reasonably sure that everything is running like it's supposed to. If I'm wrong, please let me know.

It probably won't be a problem anyway (and it's three downloads or fifty days), but how comes there is such a limitation anyway?

At the moment it's 10 days (had to reset it when I reinstalled the store software)--I'll need to reset that to 50.

As for why there are limits, it's because the software doesn't have a way to turn them off. The number of copies I can understand*--if you need more than 3 copies, some of them probably aren't just for personal used. The time limit makes less sense to me.

*At least for mp3s and such with copy protection or DRM of some kind. In the case of PDFs, you can always make your own copies if you want to start illegally distributing them (which we hope you don't).

I definitely agree that a limit on the number of downloads seems reasonable, more just the day limit I dislike. Knowing me, I'll lose all my copies of it, no matter how I back it up sometime between 6 months - 3 years from now.

Most sites that sell downloadables have the day limit (I've seen some where you have as little as 3 days). When you think about it, this is a lot better than for print products. If you buy a hard copy of a book and lose it, you're just SOL. At least with PDFs you can get a replacement if you lose it before the time limit expires.

Since the time limit is pretty standard, the software assumes you're going to have one and requires one to be set (and to make matters worse, it must be entered in seconds).

Making a backup and keeping it somewhere safe is your best bet.
