Yum Yum Use 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Since I'm hopeful we'll have quite a few guests checking out the website and forums after GenCon, I thought I might try to generate some interesting posts.

In running and playing several games at GenCon, I noticed that no one was actually playing QAGS rules as written, particularly concerning the use of Yum Yums.

Everyone I played with used the 1 Yum Yum = one reroll, rather than the 3 Yum Yums presented in the rules.

Everyone (except me, that is) used the 1 Yum Yum = altering dice roll by 3, as presented in the rules. I don't use this rule, as I figure it balances out the decreased amount required for a reroll.

In general, I noticed I throw around a lot more Yum Yums than the other GMs I've encountered (Ian and Leighton actually started their games with what I felt was an obscenely small amount of Yum Yums, probably less than 25 to disbribute to 5-7 players). I think it works well for me since the "only allow rerolls" method can burn through 4 or more Yum Yums at a time. Most of my players will have almost no Yum Yums remaining after the "Boss" encounter at the adventure's climax.

So, I'm asking, is the 3 Yum Yums = 1 reroll "official" rule broken?

Guilty!

I know I didn't come up with that on my own, though. I think the notion may have been "Make the convention game move fast and furious." Or faster and more furiouser (not a word) than it might otherwise.

This is not to say that it can't move fast and furious with 3YY for a reroll, of course.

Umm .. uhh ... where do I end up if I redline it?!

Yeah!

Much farther away than you are now

Actually, I think I got the "Redline" vehicle stat I used in my "QAGS Spy Racers" game from either Steve's "QAGS Hot Pursuit" or Victory Games' "James Bond 007" RPG. Probably both.

I only steal from the best! (Speaking of which, Fast and Furious 3: Tokyo Drift, i.e. the Fastest and Furiousest??? is one of the most underrated race movies of all time, IMO).

Probably, but the funnest chase scenes are still the ones in "The Blues Brothers" and "What's Up, Doc".
